Trolltunga is a spectacular rock formation in Norway that juts out from the side of a mountain, about 700 meters above Ringedalsvatnet lake. It is located in Tyssedal, Odda municipality, Hordaland county. Trolltunga is about 1,100 meters above sea level.
The name “Trolltunga” means “Troll’s Tongue” in Norwegian. The formation is said to resemble a troll’s tongue sticking out from the mountain.
The hike to Trolltunga is a challenging 27-kilometer round trip with an elevation gain of about 800 meters. The hike takes about 10-12 hours to complete. Trolltunga is a popular tourist destination, and it is estimated that over 100,000 people visit the site each year.
